Commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day and join the party in Embsay Village Hall on Monday 5th May anytime from 2pm to 5pm.
Just as Britain came together on 8th May 1945 to celebrate Germany’s surrender to the Allies, marking the end of World War 2, residents of Embsay and Eastby and their friends are invited to join in with local celebrations on Bank Holiday Monday.

There will be no entry charge or rationing of cakes or tea but if you’d like to leave a donation for SSAFA it will be gratefully received. There’ll be activities for children and adults, live music from the Millholme Dixieland Jazz Band at 2pm, a 1940’s Fashion Parade at 3pm, a quirky quiz at 3.30pm, interesting extracts from wartime diaries at 3.45pm, and a sing-a-long at 4pm with guest appearance of Embsay’s Vera Lynn
The more people who come in authentic or 1940’s style clothes the more interesting and enjoyable the Fashion Show will be, so be brave and come as land girls, pilots, factory workers, housewives, home guards (Dad’s Army), spivs, and bring the children. There will be prizes.
DON’T MISS OUT – Join the party whenever you can on Monday 5th May 2pm to 5pm. It’s not just for the oldies!
