
Both teams suffered defeat on Saturday. The 1stXI were at Cowling and posted 190 in their 40 overs with Mohsin Saghir making a fine 73 and skipper Morgan Davies 35. The homeside’s reply was in tatters as they slumped to 35-5, before the next three batters scored 68no, 44 and 45no to take them past our total for the loss of six wickets. Haroon Ali was the pick of the bowlers with 4-32. This defeat drops the 1sts to 8th in the division.
Meanwhile the 2nd XI entertained Oakworth II at Shires Lane. Opener Gareth Wooler made a splendid 97no as we totalled 170-8. Debutant Nathan Barrett made 21. The reply was faltering at 143-6 but injuries to two of our bowlers, Josh Robinson (shoulder) and Dom Kay (hamstring) limited the options available to skipper Paul Wormald in the bowling department. Gareth plugged away for ten overs to end on 3-53 but Liam Humphreys 67no held the innings together and the Cure Hill side got home by 4 wickets with 3.5 overs to spare. The 2nds drop to third in the division – 8 points behind leaders Riddlesden.
This week the 1st XI are at home to Oakworth in a match sponsored by Primeur Ltd. The 2nd XI travel to Boothbridge Lane to tackle Thornton.
On Sunday the 2nd XI are in Cowling Cup action. The travel to Airedale CC to take on inform leaders Riddlesden in the 2nd semi-final which starts about 1pm.
