Last Monday the u15s entertained Great Horton Church u15s in the semi final of the cup. Sadly, we couldn’t come up to scratch and lost by 8 wickets. Adam Harding 38 (retired) and Cassian Chandler 13 helped us to 74-5 in our 20 overs. They steamrolled their way to final scoring 76 in only 12 overs.
On Thursday our u11s travelled to Skipton who batted first and score 90-8 (net 226) with Jack Rickerby taking 3-9 and Olive Ratcliffe 3-16. We could only reply with 29-6 (net 181) and so losing by 45 runs.
Our 1st XI were at Wilsden and we struggling a bit at 126-6. Then Haroon Ali 40, Jack Kitching 45 and Sam Arkwright 28 pushed to score to 209-9. We got their two openers out for 30, then carnage took place. Suleman Ayub 83 (5 fours and 8 sixes) and Mohammad Hanif 95 from 71 balls (11 fours and 4 sixes) put on 163 for the third wicket to take the game out of our control. We managed to claim two more wickets but the gallop home by 5 wickets. The fact that it took them only 31.2 overs to reach their target probably explains why the bowling figures don’t make pleasant reading!
The 2nd XI were at home to Wilsden II who at one-point only had 6 players. The rest plus our scorer were held by road works being carried out on the Aire Valley trunk road. All arrived and play was able to start at 1-45pm with the visitors batting. After 10 overs they had reached 10-1. The bowlers kept them in check so much that by 30 overs, they were only 60-4. A bit of tail wagging added 48 in the last 10 overs. Casper Bean finished with 3-20 with Stephen Speak bowling 10 overs with 6 maidens 5 runs and no wickets – very frugal. Our reply also got off to a slow start before Gareth Wooler and Casper got into their stride and put on 92 for the first wicket where Gareth was adjudged lbw for 24 runs. Jono Coward came next and rattled 21 off 10 balls to see us to victory by 9 wickets, with Casper finishing with 63 no.
We are still on top of the table on run rate from Riddlesden.

Unfortunately, next week’s junior games have been cancelled due to Covid breaking out at Embsay School and Ermysteds school and pupils are isolating.
On Saturday the 1st XI entertains Hepworth and Idle. Both teams are having mixed fortunes, having won only 2 of their last 5 games. The 2nd XI travels to Hepworth and Idle 2nd XI looking to keep up the impetus that has taken them to the top of Division Three.
