Match Reports

The First team ended a mini losing streak in emphatic fashion as they travelled to Beckfoot Lane to take on second placed Bingley Congs. The homeside batted first and scored 159 as Arslan Hussain claimed 4-41, Haroon Ali 3-44 and Andrew Foulds 2-4. The reply was dominated by Joe Holt who crashed 12 fours and 3 sixes in his innings of 81 which with Foulds 43no saw us to an eight-wicket victory.

Meanwhile the second team were on the wrong end of a run fest. Third placed Glusburn visited Shires Lane and going first clattered 285 in their 40 overs. Zaheer Abbas 129 (10×4 and 10×6) and Steve Brown 92 (12×4 and 3×6) put on 178 for the third wicket. The old adage of “catches win matches” being very true in this case. Both batsmen gave several chances that were missed. After those two were dismissed, we managed 7 wickets for 76 runs! Our reply got off to a steady start before the momentum was stepped up. However, it was never at the rate required and we closed on a creditable 192-7. Dom Kay top scored with 60 (5×4 and 3×6) and Alan Pickles made 30 on his season’s debut.

This defeat drops us to second place in the table.

The junior season came to an end with three disappointing results. On Monday the u15s entertained Bradford & Bingley and we shot out for 22 of which Luke Lovell made 11. They romped home by 9 wickets with Reuben Newlands taking the only wicket to fall, for 9 runs.

The following night they travelled to Earby and lost by 47 runs. Adam Harding 2-14 and Oliver Riley-Radcliffe 14 being the best performers. The u11s travelled to Settle and lost with only Henry Pighills, 13, doing well with the bat.
