Just when we needed both sides to be at their strongest, we were beset by isolations, holidays and injuries. We had to use members of our junior teams and two players who don’t play regularly. Having said that we did get two teams on the field.
The 1stXI entertained Barrowford and we beaten by 106 runs. The red rose side posted 194-9. We seem to struggle with the early bats but managed to take their last six wickets for 51 runs. Our reply was never in the hunt as we closed on 88 all out with Jack Kitching making 22 and Scott Robinson 20. We remain 7th in the League.
The 2ndXI travelled to Riddlesden in a top of the table clash – and we had possibly the weakest side we have had all season. Even the homeside commented on the strength of our team. They won the toss and put us in, and we struggled to 104 all out. The highlight being a partnership 61 by the ageless Alan Robinson, 30, and Henry Ellison 31. We had an early success in their innings but had to wait until they had reached 90 for our second success. Shortly after they reached the winning post which leaves us in second spot.
