Under 11’s
We rounded off the season with an emphatic win over a young Barnoldswick side. We were asked to bat first and walloped 135-3 (which equates to 311). Jack Lovell made 21, Henry Pighills 12 and Olive Ratcliffe 10 and all the other batsmen contributed runs as we lost only three wickets. Barlick innings saw them reach 45 for the loss of 11 wickets (which equates to 157). Olive took 4-2, Jack 3-7, Billy Collins 2-6 and Rupert Smith 1-1. The winning margin of 154 runs was phenomenal.
In the final table we finished level on 24 points with Settle and U. Wharfedale. Sadly, for us, Settle had a better net run rate (2.34) than ours (1.78) so we finish second. U.W. net run rate was 0.67.
Considering where we started from the side has produced some excellent cricket. Well done lads and lasses.
1st XI
Our opponents Goldsborough 2nds conceding the game which gives us 20 points. Thirsk 2nds who were in second spot lost so now we are 25 points clear of Sessay 3rds.
2nd XI
We entertained Bishop Monkton 2nds at Shires Lane. They won the toss and elected to bat. They lost their skipper to the fourth ball of the innings. There main run getter of late went for 5 in the fourth over. Wickets continued to tumble and they were 18-5 after seven overs. Some wag on the field suggested that the tea lady (Heather Harding) would be buttering sandwiches like mad! Only their number 8 batsman offered any resistance until he was bowled by “a beauty” from Adam Harding. The end saw the score on 53.
Adam finished with 6-24 off 5.4 overs. Josh Robinson, bowling with pace took 3-18 from 10 overs and skipper Paul Wormald took 1-10 off 5 overs. The miracle ball was not working well this week. It took a superb tumbling catch from Chris Stone to get wormers his wicket!
The skipper chose to give some of the lesser lights some batting practice. “Sexy” Mark Walters opened with Thomas Mountain and the pair took us to the winning post in the 13th over. Mark made a fortuitous 33no and Thomas 16no.
We remain in top spot; 22 points clear of Pannal 3rds.

This Saturday the 1st XI is at home to Thirsk 2nds with the match ball sponsored by Ian Cranston Auto Engineering Ltd.
The 2nd IX face a tricky away game at Killinghall 2nd who are third in the table.
