1st XI
Sicklinghall were the visitors to the Robinson Memorial ground – sponsored by Billy Bob’s Ice Cream Parlour, and batted first. They had a decent start of 53 for the first wicket. After that they were kept in check to see them reach 138 for 6. The last four wickets fell for the addition of just 9 runs. Moshin Saghir finished with 3 for 18, Sam Arkwright 3 for 32, Struan Mackenzie 2 for 21 with Haroon Ali and Tom Robinson getting a wicket apiece. We lost Mo Saghir to the first ball of our innings then skipper Morgan Davies, 25, and Sam 29 helped us to 134 for 5. Opener Ben Keane had made 49 not out before having to retire on 49 not out after being hit on the head – the concussion procedure being rightly followed. Struan’s dismissal saw us 134 for 6. Sam Keane then scored the 14 runs required for victory, hitting three fours in the eight balls he received. We collected 20 points and now sit four points behind Walton Park who only collected 17 points at home to Raskelf.

2nd XI
The 2^nd XI’s game away to Kirk Deighton was abandoned due to the weather. We drop into fourth spot, 31 points behind joint leaders Killinghall and Whixley and seven points behind third place Ben Rhydding.

Under 11’s
The form recently found by our under 11’s evaporated as we lost two games during the week. On Wednesday we lost by 64 runs at home to Settle Boks. Rueben Barrett top scored with 14 not out and Olive Ratcliffe made 10. They were indebted to a knock of 42 not out by number 10 batsman John North. On Thursday we travelled to Settle Gazelles and lost by one run in a low scoring game. Jack Wood took 2 for 4 and Olive 2 for 5 as we restricted them to a net score of 211.  Then Olive top scored with 10 with Hayden Barrett making 8 not out and Hugo Brookfield-Eddison 8 as we replied with a net score of 210. We drop to fourth in the table.

Over 50’s
On Monday we entertained the Two Counties Seniors over 50’s side. The weather managed to stay fine although there was a cold blustery wind. Our skipper Duncan Bullough won the toss and decided to bat first. Our “golden oldies” made 215 for 6 in their 40 overs with Wally Robertson making 69 (7 fours, 3 sixes), Jason Waddington 44 (3 fours, 4 sixes) and Neil Robinson and Bob Bateman both made 30. The Tourists made 80 for the first wicket. Then some tight bowling and excellent fielding which included two stunning run outs, kept things in check and they closed on 149 for 7. Jason finished with 3 for 27 and Paul Wormald 2 for 32. Our team included 9 ex-players, 8 of whom came through our juniors at one time or another. Alan Pickles, Duncan, Jason, Wally, Bob, James Tiffany, Scott Robinson and Alan Robinson came through the juniors. Neil Robinson played for us and the two “offcumdens” were David Daggett and Paul Wormald.

On Monday the under 11s finish their season at home to Skipton under 11s, On Tuesday the 1^st XI are at home to Rainton in the semi final of the Barrett Cup. Next Saturday the 1^st XI are away to Ripley. The 2^nd XI are at home to Burton Leonard, with the match sponsor Watson Building Services.

The Club is saddened to learn of the passing of ex-player David Stephens. Prior to playing for us David was a well-known rugby league player. He joined rugby league giants Wigan where he was an instant success. He played centre to one of games greatest players in rugby league history, Billy Boston. He played in the rugby league cup final losing out to arch rivals St Helens. He also played for Castleford before moving to Saudi Arabia to teach PE. He was games master at Ermysteds and came to play cricket for us. He enjoyed success with the 1^st XI before stepping down to lead the 2^nd XI to several League and Cup victories in an era when Embsay were a dominant side in the Craven League. He leaves a widow, Barbara, and four children Sarah, Emma, Daniel and Edward to whom the Clubs send its sincere condolences. David’s funeral is at Waltonwrays Cemetery on Friday 14^th July at 3pm.
