The Flag on the cricket club is at half mast for Mrs Pat Batchelor (husband of the late Reginald) who passed away at the age of 95.
In 1975 the club had flattened their wooden pavilion and had to raise funds for a new one. Pat along with Maureen Robinson, Agnes Kelly, Barbara Pope, Keith Unwin and myself were the sub committee formed to raise those funds. We came up with all sorts of ideas like buy a brick, raffles etc and the famed bingo sessions. The latter started of as one-off sessions before we realised there was a need for us to go alternate Saturday nights with the Village Institute. We managed to raise the necessary funds in about 18 months and with help from Roger Tiffany (Builder) who accepted a delayed payment towards the end we had a new pavilion. Pat was the last of the quartet of ladies and the cricket club wishes to acknowledge the help Pat gave over the years.
The Club also sends sincere condolences to Paul and Rachel and family.
