At last, we have some cricket to report about!
The local derby for the 1stXI down at Bolton Abbey went down to the wire. We batted first and made 165-8 with Moshin Saghir hitting 73 (12×4, 1×6), Tom Robinson 33 and Sam Keane 29. The last two putting on 47 for the 4th wicket. The home side scored 150 the last wicket falling to the sixth ball of the penultimate over. Robert Mayo was their top scorer with 35. The last pair looked capable of nicking the game putting on 25 before the final wicket fell. We reaped 19 points for the win which moves us into fourth spot.
Meanwhile the 2ndXI are still without any cricket. Their scheduled fixture at Shires Lane didn’t take place after Thirsk 3rds conceded the game on Thursday. We collect 20 points and are currently third in the table.
This Saturday there is no cricket throughout the Nidderdale League due the Coronation of King Charles III.
The under 11s started their season on Thursday with a successful trip to Earby. They won the match by 46 runs. Ellie Walters and Hudson Meehan both scored 9, Billy Collins and Hayden Barrett both made 7. In the homesters innings, Billy Collins took 2-0, Hudson Meeking 2-2, Hugo Brookfield-Eddison 2-2 and Ellie Walters 2-12. The side entertain Sutton on Monday night.
