It is not every game that you score 235 for 8 and lose, but that is what happened to the first team last Saturday.

1st XI
We were at home to Ripley 1^st team and going first we lost Mo Saghir without a run on the board. Joe Holt was joined by debutant Tom Stead and they took the score to 66 with Tom making 22. From there it was a succession of wickets with all the batsmen, except for Joe, being dismissed for single figure scores.

Thankfully Joe was in a belligerent mood he crashed 18 fours and 6 sixes to finish on 146 not out from 112 balls.

The visitor’s opener was on a similar rampage to Joe. Ian Dixon took 126 balls to score 162 not out, clattering 19 fours and 8 sixes. They only lost four wickets reaching their target in the 39^th over. Haroon Ali took 2 for 47, Jack Kitching 1 for 40 and Sam Arkwright 1 for 54. We garnered 7 points and now sit in fourth spot in the League, 13 points behind leaders North Stainley.

2nd XI
The second team travelled into the countryside to Little Ribston on a lovely day for cricket. We won the toss and asked them to bat first. Their openers put on 49 for the first wicket and then 103 for the second wicket seeing them to 152 for 2 in the 37^th over. Just when it looked as though we were only going to get a point for taking two wickets, up stepped Gareth Wooler and he took two wickets from the final two balls of the innings, which earned us a second bowling point. They closed on 169-4 with Gareth taking 2 for 16, Casper Bean 1 for 18 and Sam Keane 1 for 26. One of their openers faced 101 balls and made 40 not out!

In reply our openers put on 33 where Casper departed for 21. Sam joined Gareth and the pair put on 104 for the second wicket before the former was dismissed for 49. Maaz Nayyar made 14 as the score rose to 167 for 3. Gareth duly hit the winning runs and finished on 72 not out with 7 fours and 1 six. It took us 33 overs to reach our target.

We collect 17 points which keeps us in second spot 10 points behind leaders Whixley 2nds.

Fixtures
Next Saturday the 2nds are at Shires Lane (ground sponsored by Billy Bob’s Ice Cream Parlour) to Ripley 3rds. The match ball is sponsored by Bulloughs Cleaning Services. The 1^st team pop over Blubberhouses to take on Hampsthwaite.

Under 11’s
The under 11’s lost both games they played last week. In the league on Monday they put up a poor show and went down by 32 runs up at Upper Wharfedale. Reuben Barrett was the best batter. In the bowling Hugo Brookfield-Eddison took 3 for 6 and there were wickets for Jessica Hudson and skipper Olive Ratcliffe.

On Wednesday we travelled to Steeton in the first round of the Barritt-Stephenson Cup and lost by 25 runs. The home side went first and scored 72 for 5 with Jack Wood taking 2 for 17, Ellie Walters 1 for 6, Ollie Parker 1 for 8 and Rueben Barrett 1 for 10. In the batting Hudson Meeking made 18 as we fell for 47 all out.
