Eureka!!!! The Second team have got past round one at the fourth time of asking, and they did it in style.
We travelled to Dacre Banks where they won the toss and asked us to go first. We got off to a flying start with 55 for the first wicket with Matt Buckmaster making 24 from 17 balls. His opening partner Gareth Wooler followed two runs later having scored 28 from 18 balls. The score reached 69 which saw Sam Keane perish for four. That was their last success as we pummelled their bowling for eight overs. Casper Bean 54no (8×4 1×6) and George Arkwright 40no (4×4 2×6) took us to 164 for 3 at the end of our 16 overs – heady stuff.
Their innings started in fine drizzle, thankfully it didn’t last, and play was not affected. They were always behind the asking rate with wickets falling at 15,37,40 and 74. They required 90 from their last five overs. Their fifth wicket partnership put on 38 and they closed on 112 for 4. Casper Bean claimed 3 for 22 off his four overs and Matt Buckmaster 1 for 17.
In the next round – the quarter finals – we are at home to Killinghall 2nds on the 3rd of June.
