First Eleven
Wow! Where did that stunning performance come from? We were at home to Kirk Deighton and keen to give them pay back for the pummelling they gave us earlier in the season. They won the toss and elected to bat. In the space of twelve balls both openers were back in the hut – the score being 4 for 2. It continued in that vein with one batter keeping us at bay with 40 not out. The last five wickets fell for just 15 runs with the last five batters all recording ducks as they succumbed to 78 all out. Struan Mackenzie was in fine form with the ball, taking 4 for 21 in five overs. The other bowlers used all chipped in with a couple of wickets apiece, Jack Kitching 2 for 16, Haroon Ali 2 for 18 and Sam Arkwright 2 for 22.
Our reply was swift as we knocked off the runs for the loss of just one wicket. Nathan Barrett scored 27 not out, Mo Saghir 27 and Josh Robinson 21 not out in an innings that lasted just 11 overs.
Well done lads, a terrific win that sees us move up two places in the table to ninth.
Second Eleven
We were over at Killinghall and sadly after a good start fell away to be 108 all out. Casper Bean and Danny Horne put on 58 for the first wicket where the latter fell for 20. The former went for 38 with the score on 62. Three more wickets fell in the 70’s. Tom French 11 and Ben Jolly 3 pushed the score to 94 where they both perished. A defiant 13 from skipper Paul Wormald helped the innings to reach 108 all out in the 31st over.
We had them 45 for 2 before they stormed home by eight wickets in the 27th over. Harry Ayrton claimed 2 for 34. Mention should be made of Casper’s bowling. He bowled ten overs for just fifteen runs.
We drop a place to sit fifth in the table.
