FIRST TEAM

The 1^st XI entertained Darley at Billy Bob’s Ice Cream Parlour sponsored ground. They won the toss and decided to bat first. They made steady progress and had reached 194 for 4, when thankfully a bit of mayhem set in as they lost their last five wickets for 28 runs – 20 of them coming from the last pair. Moshin Saghir claimed 5 for 32 and Andrew Foulds 3 for 59. 32 extras including 10 wides didn’t help our cause.

Our reply had batters making a start, and except for Sam Arkwright who made 45, failed to go on to a big score. Thomas Mountain made 25, Andrew 19, Jack Kitching 21 and Sam Keabne 17 as we totalled 171 all out. 34 extras including 23 wides helped our cause.

We remain 10^th in the League, 24 points in front of the 11^th team. With five games to go it is going to be touch and go about retaining our place in Division Two.

SECOND TEAM

The 2^nd XI were over at Knaresborough 2nds and decided to bat first after winning the toss. Gareth Wooler unusually struggled and went for a duck. Caspar Bean made 41 before getting out with the score on 46. Nathan Barrett, 12, and Ben Jolly,8, pushed the score to 74 for 4. David Hird was joined by Gareth Sharpe, and they put on 66 for the fifth wicket where the latter departed having made 36. David followed 6 runs later, having made 28. We stood at 146 for 7. Hayden Barrett 18no and Scott Robinson 22no put on 41 to take the score to 187 for 7 at the end of our overs.

They lost two wickets getting to 8 then a 59-run partnership got them to 67 for 3. Then three wickets fell as they added just 2 runs. A little bit of a recovery got them to 107 for 9. The last pair made us sweat a bit as they added 35 for the last wicket closing on 142 all out. Caspar rounded a good afternoon, taking 4 for 26. Ben Jolly took 3 for 41, Greg Sharpe 2 for 40 and Scott 1 for 23. We sit top of the pile, two points clear of Blubberhouses, with Crakehall a further two points back.

Next Saturday the 1^st XI are at home to Masham whilst the 2^nd XI travel to Ripley. Match sponsors are Andrew Bingham and Steve Ryder, RYLO Freight.
