Happy New Year to everyone from Embsay with Eastby Pre-school Playgroup, based in Embsay Village Hall.

2022 was a very eventful year for the Pre-school Playgroup, starting with our 55^th Anniversary.  We didn’t celebrate until September but it was lovely to see so many past and present children, parents, committee and staff. 

During 2022 we gradually brought back some of our favourite events including Mothers’ Day afternoon teas, sports day, family trip to Hesketh Farm Park, end of term party and most recently our Christmas concert and party with a visit by Santa.  We also started going on trips again such as Embsay Steam Railway and Skipton Fire Station and we thank all their staff for making our trips so exciting and memorable.

Fundraising is always an important part of our year and we try to organise events that are enjoyable.  This year it included the Easter Egg Trail, Kilnsey Show, Children’s Marquee café and our Annual Grand Raffle.  A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our events whether donating prizes, baking,  helping at the events or attending events and making purchases.  We live in a very generous community.  We are looking forward to more fun events in 2023 including Embsay Bake Off on 29th January 2023 and the Easter Egg Trail on 26^th March.  More details to follow.

However, one of our biggest achievements was being awarded ‘Outstanding’ again by Ofsted.  This was due to the hard work by past and present staff who are so dedicated, enthusiastic and hard-working and always put the children and their families at the centre of what they do. Thanks also to the parents who voluntarily give their time to join the committee and manage the pre-school so well.

Finally one of the most special moments in 2022 was linking up with the John Midgley Nursery in Milawi.  We have been sharing photos and videos and received a lovely video of the children and staff singing “We wish you a Merry Christmas” in English.  We are looking forward to sharing more stories about our different lives in 2023.
