Following the passing of Monika Butler, the Embsay with Eastby Parish Council and FEENR (the Friends of Embsay with Eastby Nature Reserve) are providing a new public bench seat, to commemorate her life and the part she played in the creation and success of the nature reserve.
Her husband John and the family have been asked to unveil the seat and they have been delighted to accept.
Every villager is invited to the unveiling, which will take place in the nature reserve this coming Saturday December 17th at 11.30 am. But please arrive 5 or 10 minutes beforehand, so as to be in place by the time of the unveiling. The entrance to the reserve is at the top of Millholme Rise, on the outside of the first bend, or if coming through Primrose Glen, it’s on the left as you emerge from the Tannery Path.
This will be a short, simple and informal, but poignant and hopefully, memorable occasion. The weather is forecast to be warmer with only little chance of rain, but a brolly and/or warm clothing would of course be advisable.
