After two hugely successful performances of our Spring programme in March, we are looking forward to our Summer concerts on 21^st and 28^th June at Settle Parish Church and Christ Church, Skipton when we will play Mendelssohn’s overture Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage, Schubert’s Symphony No. 3, and then Ewan Hudson, a regular member of our horn section and one of our younger players, will be the soloist in Weber’s breathtaking Concertino.

After graduating from Leeds College of Music in 2017 Ewan went on to study for his Undergraduate Degree in Music at the University of Liverpool, where he achieved the highest recital mark of the academic year for his performance of Strauss’ 1^st Horn Concerto in 2022.  Ewan then completed his Masters in Classical Performance and became the first recipient of the Sarah Barrow Excellence in Music Bursary.  Ewan’s time in Liverpool would see him join the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in 2021, briefly returning for the orchestra’s 2025 tour of Tuscany as part of the Florence Youth Orchestra Festival.  Now back in Yorkshire, Ewan performs regularly with multiple orchestras across the North-West, both as a soloist and principal horn. 

Thanks to a generous legacy from a former member of the orchestra – Dorothy Wrathall who played the violin with us for many years – admission to these two concerts will be free.  Donations will be welcome and will be split between the Orchestra and Jessie’s Fund www.jessiesfund.org.uk, a charity which helps children with serious illness, complex needs, and communication difficulties through the therapeutic use of music.

Given the success of our previous concerts, we recommend that you book your tickets in advance.  These will be available from Forage & Feast in Settle, orchestra members and online at www.settleorchestra.org.uk.  They will also be available on the door, subject to availability after advance bookings for which seats will be held until 15 minutes before the performances start at 15:30 and then released for general admission.
