North Yorkshire Libraries – Embsay with Eastby Library
Temporary disruption to library services.

From the 20th of March we will have a new library management system. For more details about why we are making these changes, and how services might be affected, please visit our website.

We are working hard to mitigate the impact of these changes and our teams have been busy training. Thank you for your patience while we adjust to the new system.

Key information

Downtime
During the changeover there will be a period of downtime from the 17th -20th March when some services may not be available. However, Embsay library will still be open and you will be still be able to borrow and return books and use the public computer. We hope you’ll be patient as our volunteers get to grips with the new system.

Action required for users of the digital library
If you use the free eBook, audiobook, magazine or newspaper offer, please log into your digital library accounts before the 17th of March and remain logged in. If you forget, you may not be able to access your account during the downtime period. Don’t worry, you will be able to log in again as usual after the 20th when the system is live.

We apologise for any disruption or inconvenience. If you have any queries please get in touch at Bibliographic.Support@northyorks.gov.uk.

Changes to library charges from 19th March 2025
From 19 March 2025, library members will see a small increase in some charges.
Income from fines and other charges goes into the library budget and contributes to ongoing service delivery costs. Charges incurred at Embsay community library go directly back to managing our library and make up a valuable part of the income needed to meet our running costs.
