AED units at Bower House in Eastby, The Village Institute and The Cavendish Arms in Embsay.

A reminder that the Community Defibrillation Team of Yorkshire Ambulance Service will be holding a familiarisation and training session on how to carry out CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and the use of AED`s (Automatic External Defibrillator).

This will be held at 7.00pm on Thursday 7th September in the Village Institute and should last approx. one hour.

Understanding and being able to administer CPR in the absence of a defibrillator or whilst waiting for a First Responder or Ambulance can be lifesaving during those precious minutes.

Embsay with Eastby have three AED`s. These are located externally at The Cavendish Arms and The Village Institute in Embsay and Bower House at Eastby. These are sophisticated yet easy-to-use appliances that can analyze the heart`s rhythm, and if necessary deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm. As well as seeing how a defibrillator works there will be an explanation on what happens when you call 999, how the call is triaged and how a defibrillator is accessed if required.

Please come along to this important event, you may be able to save a life one day.
