1st XI
The 1st XI travelled to Spofforth and came away with a comprehensive 109 run victory. They won they won the toss and asked us to bat first, and we struggled to make much headway and found ourselves 83 for 6 of which Joe Holt scored 22 and Haroon Ali 21. Sam Arkwright and Tom Robinson came together and progressed the score to 130 where the former went for 34. The eight wicket, that of Sam Keane, who made 21, fell at 176. Ben Keane joined Tom and pushed they score to 213 where the latter was run out for 60 on the last ball of the 40th over. Ben was 11 not out. The homesters innings was always under our control. Wickets fell regularly as they reach 97 for 6. Here, there was a 20 minutes break for rain. On the return to the field, Jack Kitching took three wickets in an over and Sam Keane claimed the last one as they tumbled to 104 all out in the 33rd over. There were 27 extras which included a total of 15 wides!! Jack took 5 for 26, Tom 2 for 20, Sam K 2 for 14, and Sam A 1 for 15. The 20 points gained sees us remain 6 points behind leaders Walton Park, who beat Ripley by 9 wickets.

2nd XI
Our 2nd XI had a bad day at the office. At home to second placed Whixley 2nds we lost the toss and were asked to go first. We lost Mr Reliable, Gareth Wooler for 1 in the second over. From there we struggled. Only Nathan Barrett with 30 troubled the bowlers as all the other batsmen, with the exception of Scott Robinson failed to reach double figures. We failed to hit a four for eighteen overs before Scott belted a couple in hi 14 not out. Our innings closed on a very disappointing 83 all out. We will not use the excuse that we were understrength – but we were! They made light work of knocking off the runs for the loss on two wickets in the 16th over. Youngster Ben Jolly took 1 for 25 and Scott 1 for 31. The miserable return of two points sees us remain in fourth place and 60 points behind leaders Killinghall 2nds, who are romping away from the rest of the division.

Fixtures
Next up for the 1st XI is a trip to Sessay 3rds who play at Thornton-le-Moor. For the 2ndXI we have another tough ask as we entertain third placed Ben Rhydding 2nds. The game is sponsored by Crag & Co and Craven Farm Vets.
