Embsay-with-Eastby Historical Research Group have published Volume 2 of “Historical Notes”, with articles on a range of topics on our villages’ past – including Embsay Priory, the chapels, wife-selling, the 1881 Census, smallpox, Belgian refugees in World War One, a history of the Mason’s Arms pub in Eastby, and much more.

Many of these were posts originally published online – but they have all been revised, and some greatly expanded.
