First Team
Wow!!!! We only went and did it. The weather Gods were kind to us, the ground and wicket was fit for play. We knew before the start that only a win would guarantee us promotion – and we won.

Our visitors to the Billy Bob’s Ice Cream Parlour sponsored Robinson Memorial field, Raskelf, won the toss and chose to bat. Their first wicket put on 30 and two balls later they lost the second one. The score reached 60 in the 19th over, and mayhem set in. They lost seven wickets for the addition of two runs. Their last wicket put on 10 to leave them 72 all out with opener A Taylor top scoring with 42, and the innings included seven ducks. In the bowling Andrew Foulds claimed 4 for 17, Struan Mackenzie 3 for 11, Sam Arkwright 2 for 22 and Tom Robinson 1 for 4.

Our reply didn’t get off to the best of starts as we lost wickets at 4, 11 and 30. Then Tom Stead 21 not out and Jack Kitching 27 not out took us to victory and promotion in the 14th over with Kitch finishing proceedings off with a six.

Second Team
The journey to Burnt Yates didn’t bode well as we travelled through mist and drizzle. When we arrived, the wicket and ground whilst being wet were playable. The drizzle had stopped but there was a strong breeze which chilled the bones. However, both sides wanted to play and so off we went.

Chris Stone won the toss and asked the homesters to go first. Only opener Jake Saville 49 and G Belly 23 offered much resistance and they were all out for 108 in the 29th over. Jago Bean with 4 for 25 was the best bowler for the second week running. He was assisted by 14-year-old Ben Jolly 2 for 22, Dave Mountain 1 for 0, George Keane 1 for 4 and Thomas Mountain 1 for 34.

Whilst we knew we could not catch either Champions Killinghall II or second placed Whixley II we finished a commendable third.

So the curtain comes down on our second season in the Nidderdale League.
