The new bench placed in the car park at Embsay Reservoir was purchased by two local mums. Jenny Metcalfe and Mandy Hunt. The bench is dedicated to their sons Rob Metcalfe and Chris Riley who both passed away from cancer a month apart in 2022. Rob was 32 and Chris was 30 when they died. 

They both enjoyed family walks up at the Crag and Reservoir throughout their lives. Rob’s ashes were scattered by his family at the top of the Crag recently.  Chris is buried at Tarn Moor Memorial Woodland nearby. Rob was also the much loved grandson of local Embsay resident the late Monika Butler. 

The bench faces the Crag to provide a place to rest and enjoy this magnificent view for all who walk in the area.

The Parish Council would like to thank Yorkshire Water for allowing the placement of the bench, and for completing its installation.
