FIRST TEAM
The 1st XI were at Ouseburn on Saturday and after winning the toss decided to bat. Skipper Morgan Davies and Thomas Mountain opened the innings and took the score to 33 where the captain went for 23. Mo Saghir made 20, Haroon Ali 14 and Struan Mackenzie 16 as the score reached 123 for 8. Without addition Thomas fell for 16 from 94 balls – doing what he was asked to, to anchor one end, which he did admirably.
The innings closed on 136 all out.
Our bowlers kept plugging away and managed to claim seven wickets before the target was reached. Hammaad Hussain claimed 3 for 26, Haroon 2 for 19, Struan and Mo both claimed 1 for 33.
We slip to ninth in the table. This week we tackle leaders Harrogate 3rds at the Robinson Memorial field.
SECOND TEAM
The 2nd XI entertained Raskelf at the Billy Bobs Ice Cream Parlour ground. They won the toss and chose to bat first, in what can only be described as a strange game. They lost regular wickets and reached 72 for 9. Their number three batter spent 35 balls scoring 15. He suddenly changed gear and started to stroke the ball to all parts of the ground, whilst his skipper at the other end took singles to keep him on strike. He hit 17 fours and a six in a 111-ball innings of 111 not out. He and his skipper (14 not out) put on 74 for the last wicket as the innings closed on 146 for 9. Casper Bean took 3 for 14, Scott Robinson 2 for 14, Paul Wormald 2 for 34 and Matt Buckmaster 1 for 27.
Josh Robinson and Casper opened the innings and put on 82 for the first wicket where the former went for 43. Casper was next to go for 26 with the score on 104. They claimed another two wickets – Rory Dollard for 4 and Zac Sharpe for 3. Then Danny Horne 32 not out and Hayden Barrett 4 not out took us to the winning post.
We are 2nd in the league. This week we travel to Middleham.
Match sponsors for this Saturday are R McDowell Haulage and Steve Carling Roofing Contractor.
