First Team
The 1st XI travelled to Burnt Yates looking to pick up points against a team that was below them in the table. Unfortunately that didn’t transpire as we only picked four to their twenty. They won the toss and elected to field. We lost two wickets in the 50’s, three in the 80’s another at 117 and the last three only added eight runs as we were dismissed for 144. Josh Robinson top scored with 27, Tom Robinson made 25 and Sam Keane 22. We couldn’t make much headway into their batting as the lost five wickets, reaching their required target. Tom took 3 for 46 with a wicket each for Struan Mackenzie and Thomas Mountain.
We drop to 10th in the table.
Second Team
Third placed Helperby 2nds were the visitors to the Robinson Memorial Filed sponsored by Billy Bob’s Ice Cream Parlour. They won the toss and elected to bat and we hustled them out for 102 in 29.3 overs. Ben Jolly took 3 for 18, Caspar Bean 2 for 5 and there was a wicket for Hayden Barrett. We built on an opening partnership of 66 with David Dawson scoring 39, and passed their total in the 29th over, with Gareth Wooler scoring 44no.
We move up to 6th in the table.
The 1st XI entertain joint leaders, Thornton-le-Moor, at Shires Lane next Saturday.
