Cricket has become something of a rarity at Shires Lane thanks to the weather.
The 2nd XI was due to entertain Cowling II on Saturday 22nd May but the game was called off because water was stood on the square. The 1st XI were due to visit Ingrow but sadly the game was called off early doors. The Ingrow Rep said that the field was “a cross between a paddy field and a swamp”
During the week the u15s played Oakworth and chasing 91 closed on 72-6 with Hammaad Hussain scoring 36 before having to retire. Earlier he had taken 3-8 to go with Leighton Meeking 1-3 and both Tom Mountain and Adam Harding 1-15.
The u13s game at Wharfedale was also lost to the weather.
Cricket due this week:
24th u15 v Oxenhope (home)
25th u13 v Skipton (home)
26th u15 v Steeton (away) and u11s v Sutton (home)
30th u13 v Barnoldswick (home)
29th May 1st XI entertains Cowling with the game sponsored by R. N. Wooler & Co Ltd (Builders) and Bullough Contract Services Ltd. The 2nd XI travel to Cure Hill to take on Oakworth II.
Sadly, under the English Cricket Board’s Covid regulations, refreshments will not be sold. Hopefully that will change for the game on the 5th June.
