New Beginnings – New Parents’ Group
Every Wednesday from 9am to 11am in Embsay with Eastby Village Institute. Drop in for a drink, cake and chat with your little ones. Toys, baby mats, snacks available. No booking required.
This is an informal group of parents who have had babies recently especially during the lockdowns due to Covid-19. It is a chance to meet up with others and share experiences.
Funding was obtained from Craven District Council to enable us to start up the group.
At present we are still socially distancing but do not need to wear masks in the main hall. If there are other groups in the building we need to wear masks in public areas eg foyer, Kitchen and toilets. There are baby changing facilities in the Disabled toilet.
We serve tea, coffee and other drinks along with other refreshments including toasted tea cakes or crumpets, biscuits and cakes. These will now be provided from the hatch. Please return cups and plated to the hatch.
We also provide drinks and snacks for the babies on a table in the hall. Please let us know if you or your baby has any allergies.
We are conscious of the need to be extra careful with cleanliness and sanitizing. The hall is regularly sanitized and everything is wiped down between sessions. There are hand sanitizers available before entering the hall and wipes etc in a basket in the hall for your use.
You are free to choose some toys for your baby to play with from the ‘Toy Table’. Please put them in one of the baskets provided and leave them in the basket when you are finished with them so they can be cleaned.
We are providing toys for the moving babies that can easily be cleaned. Toys can just be left after the session so we know what has been used and can clean them.
We aim to invite health professionals and people who work with babies to our group for advice and ideas. We would like to try out various taster sessions so you can decide what is good for you and your baby. If you have any suggestions for the group or things you would like to change.
