SWISH and SWAP on 25th October in the Methodist Church and Hall from 7pm to 8.45pm
Did you know that each year, the global fashion industry generates more harmful CO2 emissions than all international flights and shipping combined. This contributes to climate change making extreme weather events such as droughts, foods and storms more frequent and severe, and people living in poverty are suffering the consequences the most. Swishing and swapping clothes and accessories is one way we can all make a difference.
‘Swishing’ is a clothes swapping event which gives new life to items we’re tired of or outgrown, but may be just what someone else is looking for. We’ve all got good quality clothes and accessories that we no longer wear or need and this time of year is a perfect time for a sort out. What’s better than acquiring ‘new’ clothes at no cost, adding variety to your wardrobe and feeding our cravings for ‘something new to wear’, whilst at the same time reducing our environmental impact by not buying new clothes. Not only that, these events are good fun for everyone, no matter what their age or gender.
This the fourth swishing event organised by the village Fairtrade group – the last was in January 2019. The poster for the event explains how it works.
Please support us by donating and/or coming along on 25th October. If you’ve nothing to swap that won’t stop you swishing something away.
Ann Lowe, Barbara Kipling, Clare Dunn, Liz Roodhouse, Maggie KItching, Sue Chute and Stella Kirkbride – the Village Fairtrade group.
PS If you’d like to join our group please talk to any of us or ring 07810 200202.
