Parish Council Report

November 2021

The Parish Council met on November 10th 2021, in the Methodist Chapel. The draft minutes from this, and details from all previous meetings, can be found on the Parish Council website – www.embsayeastbypc.co.uk

The Memorial Garden now has its flag pole in situ – installed with help from Messrs Shuttleworth, Middleton, Lawrence and Mawer in time for use at the Remembrance Day service.

Thanks also go to Cllr Ayrton, Cllr Shuttleworth, Paul Davey, Tom Ayrton and the Ellison family for their help in ensuring that the Elm Tree lights will be lit on December 1st. These will remain on until Candlemas which is on the 2nd of February. Hopefully bringing a little brightness in what appears, yet again, to becoming “strange times”.

Many thanks to those parishioners who were invaluable in helping to clear away fallen trees after the recent storms.

Thank you, also, to those of you who took time to suggest sites for tree planting for the Queen’s Jubilee in 2022. The Parish Council is now looking into these with a view to obtaining costings – and permissions.

The main reminder this month is for the consultation meetings due to be held in the Village Institute on Thursday 2nd (7pm – 8pm) and Sunday 5th December (2pm  – 3pm) regarding the future of the Main Street Car Park. This is a community asset which could find itself under threat of change when the new North Yorkshire Council comes into effect into 2023.

The Parish Council are keen to secure this asset before then but are unable to do so without verifiable public support. Councillors will be available at the meetings to explain the situation and to try to answer any questions that you may have. It is vital that the council has your support in order to progress and you are encouraged to attend.

The next scheduled Parish Council meeting will be held on February 9th, 2022, in the Institute from 7.30pm. All parishioners are invited and there is time allocated for you to raise any issues if you wish to so do.

The Parish Council is however, always available and can be contacted via the website or the Clerk, Gillian Alcock, at alcockg@hotmail.co.uk. Whilst the Parish Council will always try to resolve most issues in some cases it may be necessary to direct your query to the appropriate North Yorkshire County Council or Craven District department.
