With the Government Devolution now set to go ahead in the next 18 months, Craven District Council will cease to exist and Embsay with Eastby will fall under the New Unitary Council of North Yorkshire thus losing its local connections and possibly many locally managed assets.

The Main Street Car Park in Embsay is under a 25 year lease (20yrs remain) to the Parish Council from Craven District Council. Once the transfer of power is complete in early 2023 all assets will be transferred to the New Unitary Council, unless these assets are secured by Parish Councils and Community Trusts.  Before the Parish Council can move forward on this a Public Consultation must take place. This will help the Parish Council put forward its case to have this Car Park and the adjoining field gifted to the community.
