Remember, remember…

Some bonfire weekend advice courtesy of Ashlands Vetinary Centre

Check bonfires before lighting them in case wildlife such as hedgehogs have taken shelter amongst the wood if you have one in your garden.

PLEASE make sure it is completely out, especially before letting pets anywhere near the area. Unsuspecting animals (wild or pet) can run over any embers, which may still be hot, and get burnt feet!

Preparing your pet for Firework Season

Creating a hideout or allowing access to a safe place is essential during times of expected stress. It’s very important for pets to have somewhere they feel safe and secure where they can take refuge and won’t be disturbed. Safe spaces may include ‘dens’ for dogs made by covering their crate with a blanket, allowing cats access to hide under beds or on top of cupboards, or providing extra hides and deeper than normal bedding for small furry pets.
