Yorkshire Water have written to Embsay residents who live along the route of planned sewer investigation work taking place next week. As this work will affect traffic moving through the village please see below the notification letter and a map showing the affected roads.

Notification of sewer investigation in Embsay village, Skipton.

I’m writing to let you know about some sewer investigation work we’re carrying out in your area as part of our 2 year, £180m investment to reduce discharges from storm overflows.

We’re targeting overflows that discharge most often or for the most time to reduce the impact on water quality in the region’s rivers. Over 190 overflows have been earmarked for investment and the first stage is to investigate these overflows and the sewer network around them.

From Monday 23rd October to Friday 27th October our contract partners Matt Macdonald Bentley will be completing surveys on our sewerage network in your area. I have provided a map of the locations below; this work is in public land and not in your gardens unless we have already discussed this with you. Our working hours will be between 9am and 5pm.

Traffic management will be required at various points so the teams can enter the sewer safely, there are no excavations required.

As part of this work, we may need to use chalk paint, this will disappear over time and should not leave any permanent marks.

If you have any questions about this work, please contact the Customer Experience team on 0344 848 1099 quoting Capital YW203782 (lines are open Monday to Friday 8am until 5pm).

Thank you for your patience while we complete this work.
