A Day To Remember!

Saturday with its glorious sunshine saw the welcome return of the village fete.

Having endured a difficult year and a half which saw last year’s event cancelled, it was a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together in a safe and friendly environment. With plenty of stalls, events, music, food and drink, there was something for everyone. The aim was an event in the village for all ages and on Saturday the youngest there was 4 days old with the oldest to attend being 90 years!

Loud Minority Samba Band providing the rhythm!

A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to make it all happen – so a big shout out to Amy Kay, Judy Hirst, John Midgley, Joe Walshaw-Scott, Claire Gardt, Sarah Rogan, Bev Haspell and Barbara Kipling.

Also the grant from the Parish Council, the bales for the day donated by Andrew Ayrton, the porta loos by R N Wooler & Co Ltd, the egg rolling by Paul Barwick, the children’s race tapes from Claire Ellison, the sanitising station by Bob Middleton, stewarding by Rachel Gee and Elsie Tiffany, the tables by the Village Institute and the Methodist Church, mowing of the field by Paul Tyszyk, the fabulous judges – Carole Wilkins, Georgina Hodgson & Liz Barret, Charlie’s eggs and the generous prize donations from Paceline Cycles & Sarsaparillas Sweet Shop,

The amazing bands and singers this year – Milholmerisers, Loud Minority Samba Band, Undercover and Mike Burtoft.

And of course it couldn’t go ahead without the loaning of the field for the day so a huge thank you to Stuart Evans, Jonathan Stockton and Janet Vincent.

Watch this space for future events!!
