
The start of the week saw Harden u13s concede their fixture with our u13s.
On Wednesday we had a chastening 10 wicket defeat at the hands of Settle u15s at Shires Lane. Two ex Embsay players, Archie Phillipson 31no and Max Seddon 21no, doing the damage for Settle.
On Thursday the u11s travelled to Sutton and were soundly beaten by 52 runs.
Foulridge ‘came a callin’ on Saturday to tackle our 1st X1 who needed to get back to winning ways. That is just what they did smashing 259-4 in the allotted 40 overs. Andrew Foulds led the way with 77 assisted by Joe Holt 59, Haroon Ali 58no and Tom Bailey 52. The red rose side were knocked over for just 79 with 2nd teamer Hammood Hussain taking 4-29 and Andrew Foulds 3-9. The win moves us back to fourth in the table 8 points behind leaders Bingley Congs.
The 2ndX1 didn’t have a game on Saturday but remain in first place, on run rate, from Riddlesden.
On Sunday the 2ndX1 welcomed Airedale II to Shires Lane for a second round Cowling cup game. On winning the toss skipper Chris Stone had no hesitation in deciding to bat first. Dominic Kay smashed 74 (11 fours and 2 sixes) Caspar Bean 39 as we blasted 194- 3 in our 20 overs. The visitors never got into the game and were dismissed for 98 with Steve Speak bringing back ‘days of yore’ by taking 3-9 off his 4 overs. With the game in the bag the skipper decided to give two of our juniors a chance with the ball. U15s Leighton Meeking took 1-15 and Ollie Riley-Radcliffe 2-16. The quarter final will be against Bradley II at Shires Lane.
