Week Two of matches saw the 1st XI travel to Pannal. We won the toss and asked them to bat first. Three of their batters were back in the hut for 42. The fourth wicket fell at 150. From there we appeared to have the on the run as they struggled to 186 for 7. There followed some excellent tail wagging which pushed the total to 267 all out.
We used five bowlers which included Ben Jolly, who was making his first team debut, and he finished with 2 for 50, The other four bowlers took two wickets apiece.
We made a bright start reaching 64 before Tom Robinson perished for 33. Four batters made good starts but couldn’t push on for a decisive innings. Harry West top scored with 38, Josh Robinson made 31, Morgan Davies 21 and Sam Arkwright 18. At 193 for 7 the situation looked promising, but not this time as the last four batters made only 14 runs. 24 extras helped our cause! We claim 10 points by taking all 10 wickets and scoring over 200 runs, as we sit tenth in the table.
The match was sponsored by Mary Hargreaves and Bob Pettit.
The 2nd team were denied a game when opponents Alne 2nds informed us that they couldn’t raise a team. We get 20 points and moved up to 4th in the table.
