The 1st XI were at Masham last Saturday and on winning the toss elected to field. They were reduced to 42 for 3 before a stand of 141 for the fourth wicket took the game away from us. Their innings closed on 252 for 6. This included 38 extras of which 33 were wides. Sam Arkwright was the best bowler taking 3 for 52 with Struan Mackenzie claiming 2 for 58.

Our batting suffered against some tight bowling. A ninth wicket partnership of 35 by Josh Baines and George Keane helped us reach 116 at the close. A four-point haul keeps us in tenth place.

Lofthouse and Middlesmoor 1st XI were the visitors to the Billy Bobs Ice Cream Parlour ground. On winning the toss they asked us to bat first. We totalled 152 for 5 in our forty overs, with Ben Jolly scoring 43 not out, Caspar Bean 30, Gareth Wooler 26 and Matt Buckmaster 24.

They were never in trouble and cruised home by seven wickets. Paul Wormald was the best bowler with 2 for 28. We remain in 8th place.

This Saturday the 1st XI entertain high flying Newton-le-Willows whilst the 2nd XI are at Birstwith. The match sponsors are Sue and Gorden Kelly, and Jenny Davies and Tony Barrett.
