First Team
The 1st XI should have been at home to Masham on Saturday. However, the weather during the week made it impossible to get the ground and wicket ready for play. The rain that arrived on Saturday morning “put the tin lid” on things and the game was called off in good time to avoid Masham travelling. We get eight points for that.
With our last game of the season, away to Thornton Watlass, it becomes clearer as to what is required from the side. We need a minimum of five points to be assured of our place in Division Two next season – more points would be better of course.
Second Team
The 2nd team were away to leaders Wath & Melmerby 1st XI. They won the toss and asked us to bat first. Wo totalled 161 for 9 in our 40 overs. Skipper Nathan Barrett made 63, Ben Jolly 22 and Gareth Wooler 20. In reply the homesters scored 164 for 4 in 32.5 overs. Matt Buckmaster claimed 2 for 40 and there was a wicket apiece for Hayden Barrett and Paul Wormald. We receive six points which keeps us in sixth place in the table.
This week – the last game of the season – sees Crakehall visit the Robinson Memorial Field sponsored by Billy Bobs Ice Cream Parlour. The match starts at 12-30pm.
Match sponsors for the week are Harry West in memory of his grandfather, Noel ‘Butch’ West, who passed away recently. Also Marry Hargreaves and Bob Pettit.

First Team
The 1st XI travelled to Thornton Watlass on Saturday needing five points to be sure of staying in Division Two for next season.
We won the toss and asked them to bat first and we reduced them to 106 for 5 before B Jardin entered the fray. He blasted 109 (10×4 8×6) to help them to 264 all out in 36 overs. Getting all their ten wickets ensured that we had the five points required. Struan Mackenzie was the best bowler with 3 for 50.
We lost Thomas Mountain for a third ball duck and Tom Robinson made 6 as we reached 35 for 2. Harry West and Tom Stead steadied the ship and took the score to 103 where the latter perished for 30. Skipper Morgan Davies followed next ball and Harry 15 runs later for 58. The last five wickets added 76 for us to close on 184, with Sam Arkwright making 29.
We finish 10th in the table.
The Club would like to thank the Captain, Vice-Captain and all the players for their efforts in what has been a difficult season.
Second Team
The 2nd XI game against Crakehall at the Robinson Memorial Field sponsored by Billy Bob’s Ice Cream Parlour, never had a chance of being played. The weather during the week had left the square saturated, and the outfield too wet to attempt to cut, which prevented any work being done to get it fit for play.
We get eight points and end up in eighth place in the table.
Again the Club would like to thank the Captain, Vice-Captain and all the players for their efforts during the season.
