The birds have certainly needed a helping hand this winter.

The fat balls have been a firm favourite with many of them including many very tame pheasants who have ventured into the garden. Once again the RSPB are asking us to do the Big Bird Watch in our gardens. This audit monitors the species year on year and reflects the trends in our country. Choose an hour between the 24th and the 26th January and record the birds that land on your patch. Sadly we have lost 38 million birds from UK skies in the past 60 years. On the other hand several rare species have also been seen. Who knows what you might spot? Let’s hope a brighter picture is painted this year. Here is a link on how to take part and record your findings. Happy bird spotting.
