How ‘green’ are our villages and what more can we do?

Saturday 25th March 2023, from 2pm to 5pm in Embsay Village Institute Hall.

Do come along and take part in this FREE environmental awareness event, organised by the Community Library and the Fairtrade Group, and supported by funding from North Yorkshire County Council, the Parish Council and the Village Institute Management Committee, who have waived the hire charge for the hall and supper room.

The aim of the day is to showcase what we are already doing in our villages to care for nature and the environment, and to ask ourselves individually and collectively what more we can do to reduce carbon emissions and protect the planet. We are hoping that the afternoon will generate sufficient interest to form a local Environmental group, to consider and lead on new initiatives. 

All of the village groups actively engaged in caring for and improving our surroundings, creating spaces for encouraging wildlife and for increasing our wellbeing and the safety of our human and non-human community, will be showcasing their activities. The guest speaker from Addingham, Professor Rick Battarbee, will tell us about initiatives there. There will be storytelling in the Library, craft activities in the Supper Room, a display of art work by Embsay schoolchildren, and Fairtrade refreshments available throughout the afternoon.
