The Embsay & Eastby Post’s Birthday

The Post is one year old today!

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the visitors and especially the contributors and subscribers to the Embsay & Eastby Post website. It’s difficult to believe that it was May last year when the site finally launched – amid much trepidation; however the number of posts and growing list of subscribers along with nearly 14,000 page views has been very encouraging and is very much appreciated.

I took the decision to not add comments to the posts – the Embsay Update Facebook page does a great job in allowing conversations to flow online and for people to air their views. So it is difficult to gauge the response to the site and how it’s performing. I do receive very positive feedback when I meet people and they realise that it is me who manages the site and I’m grateful for this feedback. I have left open the comments on this particular post – so if you do have any thoughts, recommendations, criticisms or moans, then please feel free…

What I have tried to do with the website is plug the gap left by the Embsay With Eastby News. If I only manage to do half as good a job as Andrew Wilson and the dedicated team who helped run and distribute the print magazine then I’ll have done a good job so far. I will endeavour to keep adding and improving the content whenever possible – I only really have weekends and evenings and receive no financial contributions, so bear with me!

It’s been an honour and a privilege to have helped in a small way to keep our community connected. That spirit of community is vital to our 2 villages and will be even more important to nurture when our population grows over the coming year.

I wish you all well and thanks again for contributing and visiting the site.

  1. Thanks for the great job you are doing.
The posts are relevant and really “fill the void” left by the news finishing.
I like the fact that comments aren’t available.
