Craven Sailing Club

After a difficult few months, we have been delighted to welcome members back to the water at Embsay reservoir. Covid lockdowns seem to have inspired quite a few people to look to new outdoor hobbies and we have had a surge of new members – particularly those looking into the fairly new activity of stand up paddle-boarding.

Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings have seen a return of the dinghy races and have been well supported despite a few of us having grown a little rusty in our skills over the last few months.

Last year, we reported in the Embsay with Eastby News that plans were underway to extend our clubhouse to accommodate our powerboat and storage, so it is fitting that in this our first entry to the Embsay & Eastby Post that we can report that the work is almost complete. Successive coats of preservative will make the colour of the wood match the existing building so we hope that we will have managed to avoid it looking too intrusive in our beautiful setting.

We are now looking forward to being able to organise a few more social activities for our members and to run an Open Day late in the season to which everyone will be welcome. If you are interested in knowing more about the club, do not hesitate to contact us by using our details in the Directory, by emailing cravensailing@gmail.com or by popping in and introducing yourself on a Tuesday or Friday evening or Sunday morning. We are always happy to talk about all activities related to water!
