Cricket Club – Nidderdale League Dinner

Embsay scoop prizes at the Nidderdale League Dinner

At the recently held Nidderdale League dinner, the club received several awards. In addition to the Fourth and Eight Division trophies, the 2nd XI received the Crawfurd Porter award – at the end of each game, sides are asked to mark, out of 10, their opponents on sportsmanship.

On an individual note, Gareth Wooler won the 8th division batting award (568 runs, 62.11avr) and 13-year-old Thomas Mountain the wicket-keeping award with 14 victims. Skipper Paul Wormald (30 wkts 10.53 avr) should have received the bowling award but due to an error it was wrongly given to the second person in the category.

In addition to the above winners, players included in the averages were 4th Division batting:  in 5th place Jack Kitching (595 runs, 54.09 avr), 18th place Morgan Davies (560 runs 37.33 avr). Bowling in 3rd place Haroon Ali (41 wkts, 13.41 avr), 11th Sam Arkwright (32 wkts, 21.41 avr). In the 8th Division batting in 7th place Rob Bateman (264 runs, 26.40 avr). Bowling: in 4th place Adam Harding (37 wkts, 13.19 avr).
