Dear all – Just a little update on “put the brakes on speeding’
We have well over 100 signatures now – and a paper copy has been requested for those offline. What has been striking are the very real concerns we residents have with speeding traffic. These include a decrease in subjective feelings of village life feeling unsafe crossing Skipton RoadFeel pressurised to drive at speed by other car users witnessing ‘dangerous driving’ Avoiding walking into Skipton feeling that the traffic speed is unsafe struggling to cross the road to use bus stops etc a range of environmental concerns to do with noise and air pollution. There is a considerable support from our own Parish Council to remove the national speed limit signs and limit the speed in and out of Embsay.
The next step for this petition is to draw together a small working group so that we can more purposefully address County Council, and NY Highways and also our very own MP – Julian Smith. We may also think about what other actions we can lawfully and safely take.
Anyone interested in being part of this next step please contact Jayne Raisborough over on Embsay Update Facebook.
Thanks very much, Jayne.
