Eco Exhibition at St Mary’s Church for Yorkshire Churches Day

St Mary’s Embsay with Eastby is taking part in the new Yorkshire Churches Day on Saturday 10 September.

There will be an Eco Exhibition in church about the plans for becoming Net Carbon Zero by 2025 and about the Eco Church work.

St Mary’s gained the Silver Eco Church Award from A Rocha in autumn 2020 and has been continuing to make improvements in all 5 areas of the award (worship and teaching, buildings, community and global engagement, land and lifestyle).

There will be information about the species which were recorded in the churchyard in the Churches Count on Nature event in June as well as a display arising from the Creationtide service in early September.  Visitors are also invited to try out the ‘Lichens in the Churchyard’ identification guide.

There is a risk assessment for those wishing to explore the churchyard and visitors are asked to take care as the ground is uneven, particularly around the gravestones, with some kerb stones.

The exhibition will continue until the end of Creationtide on 4th October.
